Advice for soundproofing floor
« on: May 29, 2011, 07:13:49 PM »
I moved into a 2nd floor condo, and it appears there is absolutely no soundproofing in the floor. I can hear my 1st floor neighbor snoring, talking and his television.
I pulled up a section of my laminate wood flooring, and I found 1.5" of soundboard on top of the subfloor. I am considering replacing this with a layer of 3/4" OSB and 1/2" OSB, with Green Glue inbetween each layer, topped off with 1/4" of cork underlayment.
Does this sound like a good plan? Or should I consider something else.
Thanks

Does the downstairs neighbor have can lighting in the ceiling? if so the results are diminished.

I would use #2 MLV / Green Glue / 3/4" or 5/8" OSB for wood floor ...for under carpet would be a different product.

Sound board and cork will do very little in comparison.
