need a very cheap soundprrof solution
« on: June 06, 2011, 11:28:31 PM »
i play the drums. i play in a sort of storage room area in my house. i have been playing for about a year and had no problem up until now
the past weekend, some absolute dick yelled at my grandmother, who owns the house, to get me to stop playing, instead of politely asking me to possibly stop for the day (in which i would have gladly complied and stopped for the day)

now, i would like to stop things like this from happening. the question is, how can i soundproof on a budget?
can i only soundproof a certain area so sound doesnt leave in that direction? (its the rear right area, and most of the back wall i would like to get done.)

im 17, so i can install it myself, but the problem is im not made of cash. i can probably put about 100 bucks into this at the moment
i appreciate absolutely any help at all.

well due to your budget constraints there is not much your going to be able to pull off.
I would get Cement board (hardy backer) at home depot. Then I would get Cotton fiber insulation, from us or a authorized dealer. adhere the cotton fiber to the cement board and make portable panels to surround the drum set... This is truly not a great solution but its what would fall into your budget range and at least deliver some reduction.

Good luck! hopefully you will get enough reduction to not annoy your neighbors anymore.
