TV Noise from below - Walls or Floor?
« on: October 14, 2011, 11:31:43 PM »
Hello,

I'm currently suffering from TV noise from the apartment below, It's quite a low muffled sound but still very audible. I currently have carpet and any under carpet treatment is OK.

Am I looking at just soundproofing the floor or will walls be causing a problem too? When I hold a glass to the wall I can clearly hear the sound of the TV below. Unfortunately I can't do anything drastic to a rented properties walls.

Thanks in advance...

You can us our Mass loaded vinyl with closed cell foam underlayment for beneath the carpet and padding...you will have some noise come up from the walls but you will have a noticeable reduction in sound with the underlayment.
