Double Door From Studio to Garage
« on: November 11, 2011, 03:43:51 AM »

I have a weak spot in my home studio: a set of double doors that have access to the garage. They are solid core, external, and I'm walking the line of soundproofing while having it look good for my wife's benefit.

Right now, I have some MSC 90 mil on the outside of the door -- and this dropped the decibel reading by 4-5dB average. But, I'm still needing more.

I was thinking about getting some of the SSP Foam Mat 1", but I'm wondering if I'll receive the same benefit if I attach the foam to the OUTSIDE, garage-facing side of the doors as opposed to the interior, sound-facing side. My wife's not *too* worried about how it looks from inside the garage, but I don't know if she'd go for foam on the inside of the doors.

So, what provides the best reduction:

Sound > Solid Door > MSC 90 > Foam > Garage
Sound > Foam > Solid Door > MSC 90 > Garage

Or is it a wash??

Thanks!

You will get far better results from our 1" foam mat, it is always best to put it at source side but you will still get a great reduction no matter what.

1" ssp foam mat STC 25....
