Shared wall with the elevator shaft

Dear all,

I moved into a rental apartment that has a shared wall with the elevator shaft, and am wondering how I can go about soundproofing the wall. The rental management told me that it is possible to drill the walls, so I'm thinking of getting some panels of sheetrock, applying a layer of green glue and MLV on the sheet rock, then fastening the panel to the existing wall with nails.

Just wanted to know your opinion on this, whether it would be effective, and if I'm missing anything in the plan.

Yes, this would give you a good reduction for this problem and if your willing to go through the work and they will let you treat the wall than it should be a permanent installation so you get the maximum reduction. Fasten with screws and finish the wall correctly.
