Hi there
I currently live in a high-rise condo right by the highway in Toronto.
My existing window provides adequate soundproofing (it is very loud outside) but not nearly enough. You can still hear the hum of the highway, and the occasional faint roars of engines of loud motorcycles and trucks (see attached photo for the window picture). Sometimes you can hear the tires of the cars going over a bump on the highway.
Given I have large windows, they are pretty pricey. I am looking into two options
1) Wintite - this is a magnetic seal solution where they use acrylic instead of glass. There is a magnetic seal.
The cost is $1,450.
http://wintite.com/2) Bquiet - this is a regular window solution where they install an extra frame and window.
The cost however is going to be around $4,000.
http://www.bquiet.ca/I understand that acrylic is not as good as proper glass window, but given that I already have a double-pane window, I'm essentially adding a 3rd window to the space. As such, will the Wintite acrylic windows be sufficient?
I will probably get an additional 1" gap if I install it in the inside frame, or 2" gap if I install it on the outside frame.
