Soundproofing Bedroom with Green Glue, Drywall & MLV
« on: November 09, 2013, 06:57:45 PM »
So I'm planning on soundproofing my bedroom. It's 10x10x8, in a basement, with an open beam ceiling and there are only two walls that face the house (the other two face the dirt/outside). My plan is as follows:

- Put in roxul safe'n'sound in the ceiling (cover with some sort of plastic-wrap?), and attach MLV to drywall with Green Glue, install the dry wall, bam, finished ceiling.
- Attach double sheetrock to the current dry wall with MLV and Green Glue for the two open walls.
- For the door, I plan on getting a solid door and Green Gluing MLV to it. Will also use a door jammer and weather stripping to make it air tight. Unfortunately there's no room for a second door :(.

Does this seem like a viable plan? Should I be worried about the trim around the base of the walls and around the doors/closet at all?

Thanks for any help you can give :)
