Train noise
« on: December 01, 2013, 10:12:40 PM »
The London tube train (overground section of central line) passes right behind my apartment. Both the living room and the bed room have windows (3 feet high along the entire length of the room) already double glazed, but there's still train noise (thankfully no whistle though!). What can I do that's cheap and doesn't require major change to the apartment (not allowed). Acoustic curtains? Some kind of DIY extra windows?

add a second pane of acrylic 3/8" thick with the greatest gap between the 2 panes.
Here is a system we do .

Windows are fairly huge... 40x110 inches. Would it work? Do you deliver to the UK?

yes it would work, I would try to acquire the acrylic and the steel L-Frame locally and we could ship the magnetic tape to the UK via postal mail...at 110" it is to long to ship via postal mail.

Thanks again!
Will do this for the living room window. This is cheap but I'm really on a budget... can something cheaper be done for the bedroom window? I don't mind losing the light there (was planning to install 100% light blocking curtains anyway)... what's the best solution of the millions out there?
