sound proof wind tunnel in suite
« on: January 14, 2014, 07:18:47 AM »
So I've got two coin mining rigs built, and not surprisingly they are fairly loud, as 8 GPU fans are running 24/7.

As the location can't really change right now, I want to build a sound dampening wind tunnel to mitigate noise, though hopefully not at the expense of air flow. Any recommendations for the best material combination to build a sound proof(ish) wind tunnel? I want to keep costs fairly low, and it doesn't have to make it silent, just quieter. Also I will need access to make adjustments, so I'm thinking a hinge flap on one side?

There will be a box fan either end, with air being directed out a window. I will also be building a higher shelving unit to put the rigs on that will sit level with the window box.

Dimensions approximately:
2 x 2 x 5 ft long.

sounds like an interesting project, for something like this why don't you give me a call direct and lets discuss the principles to achieve sound reduction and hopefully not lose to much air flow.
