Soundproofing sliding door
« on: August 10, 2014, 12:16:38 PM »

I'm planning to have a sliding door at the back of my bedroom, opening into the back garden. The purpose is to provide view into the garden from the bedroom, therefore the sliding door would be half glass (top half), bottom half is wood and with wooden frame. What are the considerations I need to take care of in order to make it soundproof? What kind of glass should I use? How do I seal it properly for soundproofing?

well that is not going to work well unless you can put 2 panes of glass with a 2" dead airspace between the panes.
you can use 2 / 1/4" pieces of laminate glass with a 2" dead airspace.

solid core bottom

and seal this thing like its 30* below zero outside.

Truly the only solution we have for sliders is putting 2 of them back to back with air gap.
