Garage WhisperRoom... what about the shelving?
« on: October 08, 2014, 03:05:47 PM »
Hi,

I have a GK Booth being built for the 3rd car garage area of my garage. The booth will be double walled, bass traps added in all corners, total size 12x9. It will be mixed use: rehearse and record. Climate controlled. Full rock band (no full guitar stacks), compact pa with electronic drums. JamHub system for really late nights.

So... The 2-car area is still gonna be used. I am prepping my garage for this...moving things around. I have wire shelving on some walls. Would that be a problem? Should I have plastic standing shelves in my garage for basic storage? I mean, I am more concerned about controlling the sound coming out. Toddler and new baby in house, and I live in suburbia. Don't wanna wake the baby ... Or the police.

Thanks in advance.

As long as the booth is not touching any of the walls you should be ok,
Now, here is what you need to do.
Set up the booth and go in and make a bunch of noise like you would normally do and see how much of the noise is still getting out of the booth. once you find that out you can make the appropriate steps to reduce the noise from with in the garage.
Get back to me and let me know so I can help you out.
