Reducing Noise from House mates in Rental Home on the cheap.

I am renting a home with housemates but need to reduce the noise between the rooms on the cheap.  So far, I have come up with using Fabric Wall Covering, changing the doors to solid wood doors, and trying to seal as much of the door as possible.  What kind of noise reduction will this get me?
Could I use some of the SoundSentry barrier inbetween the wall and the Wall Fabric?  Would this get me a better result and if so by about how much?

your correct on changing the door to a solid core door. as for the wall, dont fall for the tricks.. just double the weight of the wall for a 40% reduction.. if you want more than that you have to do construction and create a decoupled wall system.
