Bed Shaking due to Outside Traffic
« on: August 06, 2015, 03:06:05 PM »
Hello - I've recently moved to a third floor (top floor) apartment in a wood frame building that's set back about 30' back from a busy road.  The problem is that when cars and load trucks drive by, they generate a vibration in my bedroom floor which shakes the bed and wakes me up throughout the night.  It is noisy, but it's the bed shaking that I find particularly bothersome.  Flooring is carpet and there don't appear to be any other sources of the vibration in the building (mechanical, fans, etc).

Are there any solutions that you can recommend to reduce the floor and bed vibrations?

Thank you for your help!

lets try a test and see if we can get some results before you buy products that will not work.
take 4 dry wash clothes fold them into quarters and put one under each leg of the bed, make sure the headboard is not touching walls.
If this gives you some reduction you can use our dimple vibration pads. If it does not work you have a bigger problem which soundproofing materials will most likely not help.

Let me know the results of the test.

Hi Randy - the washcloths did reduce the smaller vibrations, the larger ones associated with large trucks were still pretty strong, but I'll take any improvement I can get!  I'll go ahead and order the dimple pads.  I was reading some other posts and wondering if I should also order the MLV to help the vibration reduction as well?

Thanks!
Amanda

call in your order and when you do ask the sales person to include 4 samples of the MLV w/ closed cell foam and you will place them on the floor first foam side down then the dimple pads then the bed.

let us know how it worked out.

Best Regards,
