Thunder/firework room/space for fearful pet/dog
« on: August 12, 2015, 10:03:40 PM »
I friend's dog has become so fearful of thunder and fireworks I want to create a safe space for her. My friend lives 100 feet from the beach which has random firework displays, etc throughout the summer so sending the dog away for July 4th alone will not solve.
I was led to believe multiple individuals have inquired about solutions for this but I've found nothing on this forum.
I've been told that soundproofing an existing closet is probably the easiest solution but I wondered if others have experience here. I would like noise absorption to be part of a whole plan including other desensitization techniques etc.
any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Yes soundproofing a closet would most likely best the best approach anyway.

Make sure that you replace any hollow core door or sliders with Solid core doors so they can sealed when closed.
You will also have to put a air supply and return in the closet.

Please give me a call direct to discuss your options with wall and ceiling treatments.
