Soundproof door entrance without blocking airflow
« on: October 31, 2015, 08:03:11 PM »
Hello,

The fresh air in the condo unit I am in comes from the door. Blocking it is not allowed. Cannot make modifications that would affect the "standard" nature of our units, so I cant install an air exchanger nor change the door.

What are my options to reduce sound coming from the door?

If you can not close the gap at the bottom of the door then there is not any options that would be cost effective.

Sorry to deliver the bad news.

You can not beat free path.

Indeed, blocking the gap under the door would be considered a fire hazard... I was thinking of curtains, but I haven't found a mechanism to help get the curtains out of the way when opening the door....

What about using an automatic door sweep?

What state do you live in that would consider this a fire hazard?
I have not come across that type of issue when we seal doors for sound control.
