Sound Dampening for Condo Renovations
« on: July 15, 2016, 06:00:04 PM »
Hi all,

I recently purchased a condo and I want to do some renovations, but would like to minimize the noise impact to my neighbors. I am on the top floor.

My main concern is running my miter saw and compressor and having too much of the noise heard by my neighbors below me.

To reduce the noise from these tools, I was thinking of getting a sound absorbing mat to put under the tools while they are in operation. Would this be effective at all? I am realistic and don't expect to eliminate the noise, but I would like to reduce it as much as possible without spending too much.

If a mat under the tools option sounds viable, I would appreciate some suggestions for which mat to use.

Just addressing beneath the saw and compressor will most likely do little to no good at all.
Just equipment has hi decibel levels and therefore you would have to address the entire floor for you to see some value.
Normally for miter saws I have to soundproof the entire room...compressors we can just build a soundproof enclosure.
