Soundproofing appartment door
« on: February 01, 2017, 02:22:59 AM »

My apartment is in an old industrial building and the walls are very well soundproofed. I can blast my music and go to my neighbors room and not hear a thing through our adjoining wall. However, my front door is paper thin and the people across the hall from me can hear me as clear as if I was in the same room. What would be the best way to soundproof, what I believe is, a hollow door. Because I rent I don't want to replace the door itself nor do I want to damage it or its frame. I've looked into acoustic wedge foam panels, mass loaded vinyl, foam mats, and gaskets. Any recommendations, or personal experience with something like this?

Appreciate the help in advanced!

unfortunately the best course of action is to replace the door with a very heavy solid core door.
The only other "Band-aid" that might give you some value would be to build another barrier a few feet away from the door to act as a second interior door.

Give me a call direct and lets discuss.
