hat channel question
« on: March 25, 2017, 01:16:27 AM »
I'm in the middle of soundproofing with hat channel and clips, placing the clips 24 inches apart, no more than 48 inches on center.

None of the instructions i can find say how far away the hat channel itself can be away from the actual wall. the assembly photos I found have the first clip 6-8 inches away from the wall... but how far does the hat channel go past the clip?  I'd think you don't want it touching the wall because of flanking, but honestly no pictures address this.

I bet someone has done this on their ceiling and knows!

Thanks

What Clip are you using?

Please advise and I will get your instructions.
