I wanted to get some ideas to block sounds coming into my house from outside.   My house is currently sheathed in fiberboard which due to a poor siding installation years ago, has cracks or holes in the sheathing due to the vinyl siding installers nailing where there were no studs.   I am ready to have new siding installed and I have asked for quotes to replace the fiberboard with OSB to block some of the sound.  What does everyone think?  Having the sheathing replaced is going to cost about 5000 dollars so it is definitely not cheap.   I wanted to know what everyone thinks. Will the OSB help block the sound better than the fiberboard, or should i just have the fiberboard repaired? Currently, it seems the walls don't do much to block sound.

You need to build mass for sound blocking, use our double weight mass loaded vinyl before the OSB to improve the sound blocking of the walls.
