In-Wall AC unit low-grade vibration and hum
« on: May 09, 2017, 10:39:01 AM »
Hello,

I live in a 1st floor condo with two bedrooms both being on the left side. The upstairs neighbors (who believe they own the entire house) have older, huge Friedrich in-wall air conditioning units on each side of the house which they use at night and which create a low-grade vibration and hum which keeps me from falling asleep, even despite using ear plugs (you put your head on the pillow ad still hear it) and I have no way to escape. I want to approach them and need with a solution. Do you have any experience with that?

Unfortunately the carriage for the unit is hard mounted to the frame which makes it very difficult to decouple from the structure, the only solution i have been able to use with out having to do major wall construction is to line the carriage with our isolation framing tape on the inside the unit.

remove the unit from the carriage the line entire carriage with tape then re insert the unit.

The other thing you can do to reduce the sound heard in your bed is to use our anti vibration pads under the feet of your bed and make sure the headboard does not touch the wall.

Thanks, I will try the vibration pads.

Did the lining of the carriage resolve the low-vibration and humming completely?

No it is a reduction only, no such thing as 100% soundproof
