Im building a basement apartment in my house and the contactors have already enclosed the stairwell leading down to the basement.  However, aside from replacing the door at the bottom of the stairs with a solid core door and seal that. How can I soundproof the thin wood wall that was instaled up the stairwell. I was thinking of laying lead metal sheeting over the wall and sandwiching that in between another layer of wood pannelling.  Would this do the job or could I sandwich floormatting in between. Basically creating a wall,soundproof,wall kind of enclosure
