Sound Proofing From Highway

Is there an economical way to block noise from highway. There is not much noise inside the home, but the outside, especially backyard (is toward highway)is almost not usable. Any Ideas?>

Surya,
SOUNDPROOFING OUTDOORS IS ALWAYS A SERIOUS CHALLENGE. IN ESSENCE YOU WILL NEED TO BUILD A FENCE OR WALL, AND IT WILL NEED TO BE AT LEAST 8 FEET TALL  OR (8 FEET ABOVE THE NOISE SOURCE.)  YOU WOULD WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE FENCE OR  WALL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE GROUND, AND THAT THERE ARE NO BREACHES, GAPS OR OPENINGS IN THIS STRUCTURE. ONCE THE WALL OR FENCE IS COMPLETE AND ALL BREACHES ARE CAULKED OR PLUGGED YOU CAN THEN TREAT THE STRUCTURE WITH SOUNDPROOFING MATERIALS.
YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT THE SOUNDPROOFING MATERIAL ON THE WEBSITE. THANKS FOR THE POSTING. SEE THE LINK BELOW FOR SOUNDPROOFING MATERIALS.
