Title: any effective alternatives to resilient channel method?
Post by: Jeanne on February 27, 2001, 03:07:12 PM
2 questions:
1) What is the minimum width required for the extra wall with resilient channel soundproofing method? (unclear from diagram)
2) What can you propose for noiseproofing apartment wall situations where one can add/glue to a wall, but is not allowed/able to do the construction required for the resilient channel method?

The channel is 1/2" wide and usually there will be a layer of drywall: 5/8" and a 1/2" layer of Soundboard or Homasote.

You can cover the wall with sound basorbent mat or barrier (or both) and cover it with panelling.
