Title: once again...floor soundproofing
Post by: Patty Clerf on February 08, 2005, 05:44:53 AM
We are in the process of building a timberframe home.  There is a lot of wood in this house, and the only gypsum board will be found on the interior walls, and some of the 2nd floor ceiling.  The 2nd floor is composed of 2x6 T&G decking over 5x7 timber joists, spaced about 3' on center.   We are planning on installing a carpet and pad...I guess rebond pads are the best acoustically speaking, to minimize some impact of the kids bedrooms on that floor to the spaces below and to quiet the upper level, but what can we do to make sure the house doesn't act like a drum?  There is no floor plenum in which to install sound batts, but there is space below the pad for soundboard or something else.  What do you recommend?
