Title: Need help,Any thoughts??
Post by: Matt on February 13, 2005, 10:44:59 PM
I'm playing in three loud rock bands, and I want to cut down on the noise escaping one side of the basement practice room. It's not too loud outside, but the neighbors can still hear it. I'm debating on the used sound proof curtains sold here, or this product on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3278&item=3777773373&rd=1

Any thoughts/warnings on the two? One of the reason I'm thinking against the used curtains here, is color matching.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello Matt.
For  three serious Rock bands, you will need drastic measures.
The curtains will help cover up what you will need to do to your walls to prevent from neighbor sound overload.
Use 2# Mass Loaded Vinyl barrier material to cover the walls and ceiling area. Also, for absorbing sound , use closed cell vinyl nitrile foam mat as much as 2" thick. You can apply some paint or posters to this material for the appropriate look.
In your door and window spaces, you will need additional soundproofing.

This is a major job

Please let us know how it is going.
