Title: Outdoor Soundproofing
Post by: oneguy on May 22, 2006, 11:38:10 PM
I am looking at putting up a tent like structure over a generator to try to limit the noise.  I am wondering what is the best way to do it and what material I should buy.  I want it to be temporary and somewhat easy to install and take down.  The total area is about 4100 sqft.  16 ft high 36 ft long and 36 ft wide.  Any suggestions?

Ask yourself this:  When was the last time you were in a tent and all the noise of the outside world magically went away?

Not gonna work.  Gotta have some mass to block the noise.

We also agree. A tent like structure will not work.
You need a structure made of Fibreglass, wood or sheet metal that is lined with a Closed Celll Foam to help absorb the sound. Take a look at:/http://www.soundproofing.org/sales/prices.html.
