Title: Suggestion needed - a few options
Post by: seralin on June 30, 2006, 08:17:27 PM
I want to cover my windows to reduce the traffic noise. I want to use a rather cheap and practical approach,  take the material out of the window area easily.

Since the price ranges are close to each other, I want to know which way to go.

1. MLV (~1 inch thickness) curtain
2. Foam material, for instance 1.5 inch foam matress pad (better looking and usable for other than soundproofing)

Seralin:

A window plug made out of a closed cell vinyl nitrile foam that is 2 inches thick has proven to be very effective in reducing traffic noises. The material is available in rolls that are 4 foot wide. The window plug needs no glue or nails and is immediately removable when desired.
