Title: soundproffing Garage doors
Post by: LOISPOOH on January 31, 2007, 03:13:54 AM
Hi Everyone,

Hope you can help, my husband and I just built a studio in the garage.  We had extra heavy insulation installed in the walls, thicker sheetrock, insulated door and garage doors. We have heat in the garage and a/c in the wall and a window.  We have also installed auralex acoustic foam on the walls so the sound doesn't bounce all over the place ( my husband has a 9 piece band).  The problem is the garage doors I stand in the driveway and you can hear it clear as day well maybe a little muffled, I have insulated curtains on the garage doors but it's not enough any ideas of what to do?  We need to deaded that sound coming from the garage doors.

Thanks for all your help.

You must seal off the door- no gaps or crevises that sound can escape through.  Probably the door has little sound blocking qualities, several layers of MLV may help.  See "Barrier" at
