Title: Cost of Acrylic / Plexiglass ?
Post by: yagru on September 17, 2010, 03:27:34 PM
First off thanks for offering such a great resource of information on this site..

Ive started doing some research about adding interior sound proof windows. I like the idea of customizing my own. I was able to locate a local plastic shop here in Boston. They are quoting me $120 per 32x52 sheet 3/8". I was wondering if anyone could offer me feedback as to whether thats a decent price or not. I have not been able to find any other shops yet that deal in this sort of thing. If anyone knows of other dealers in the MA area please let me know. Thanks for any info.

Also, assuming I use magnetic tape to an L bracket/ Magnaseal bracket how much space should i leave for caulking/insulating tape.. or should i get the plastic cut to the exact size of my window openning?

Have the panel cut 1/8" smaller than the window box all the way around. And the distance to the window or gap should be as large as possible. 2" or greater is ideal.
