Title: Can I make this into an isolation booth?
Post by: flightofharmony on May 20, 2011, 02:15:18 AM
This one is very specific and particular. I'm renting a house which has a storage... thing, which was custom-built by a previous tenant to fit in the space underneath the interior stairs. I call it my "Krazy Kave". A dimensioned drawing is attached.

So, my hope is to be able to turn this into an isolation booth for practicing vocals and for just getting some peace & quiet from time to time (aside from the bathroom, there are no interior doors in this freaking place). I want be able to sing loudly without being heard by my lady, who works upstairs.

The Kave is a free-standing structure, but there is no access to the rear side, and only ~1.5" clearance with the staircase (which is open, no risers). And I'm limited to <3" thickness for materials or else I won't be able to get into the thing. Is this project feasible at all?

It is if you can seal up the "Krazy Kave". Put the risers in and make a door.. Then you can use 2" ssp foam mat and cover the whole darn thing.. :)
