Title: Secondary Glazing vs Double Glazing
Post by: Nb on November 06, 2011, 12:18:45 PM
We have relatively old wooden sash windows and would like to do some soundproofing as we live on a busy road. We also like in a conservation area and therefore are limited in terms of what we can do to the exterior of the property (replacement windows would need to be wood). Could anyone comment on the following:

1. Is secondary glazing or double glazing better for noise insulation?
2. Which technology is best for secondary glazing - Aluminium/UPVC, Acoustic glass, Magnet glass?
3. What is the most cost effective solution?
4. How much noise does it actually reduce?
5. Can you recommend any good companies in London?

Thanks to anyone who has experience/knowledge in this area.
