Title: Soundproof blanket behind a door?
Post by: TWLH on April 16, 2012, 08:44:01 PM
Hello friends. I've addressed the window in my office via the MagnetSeal system and the next item is the door. Right now I have a hollow builder grade door. I was thinking of placing an acoustic soundproof blanket behind the door to help reduce/block the sound coming from outside.

Thoughts?

cheaper and better reduction to just replace the door and seal it up using our transom door sweep and pvc gray tape.

Thanks Randy. Okay, for the door, if it's solid core does it matter if it's flat or if it has panels?

Panels are areas of a lessor mass value...use flat.

Brother Randy, I've searched and searched for a solid core flush door that wasn't hundreds of dollars with no luck. I have found a solid core/wood six panel door that's in the price range so it may be my only choice.

Unless..... anyone knows of a site that sells, and has in stock, solid core/wood doors in the $150 or under range.
