Title: Which soundproof exterior door to choose
Post by: MayW on June 02, 2012, 05:17:50 PM
Hi all,

We need a soundproof exterior (entry door to the house) door. My current door is single, solid wood, with two small glasses. Our house is right next to a very busy 6 lane streets (most ppl drive 40-55 mpg).
1. What kind of material is more soundproof? Wood? Fiberglass with polyurethane core? Steel?
2. Which thickness should I choose? A contractor told me regular door is 1.75" and he can special order for 2.25".
3. Is there a particular brand/line that you recommend?
4. I read that I can add more weatherstripping. What else should I do?

Thanks!!

Hi There,

I used the following company for my Sound Proofing requirements around my home and was happy with the results. Check out their website, you may find the information on there useful: http://www.aluglass.co.za/products/acoustic-products/ (http://www.aluglass.co.za/products/acoustic-products/)
