Title: Looking for low cost solution for small room
Post by: shanewignall on November 17, 2013, 05:33:24 AM
I have a room in my basement, and I want to use just part of it for a recording/ music video making room.  It will probably never have drums in it, just an acoustic guitar and a singer.  Maybe the occasional electric.  I'd like to keep the other half of the room halfway accessible, because there is a couch and a tv in there.  I'd like to keep this as low cost as possible.  Of course I will put carpet on the floor, but I'm not sure what the best way to do the rest of the room is, especially with the empty space.  Maybe a curtain?  A wall is not an option.  Here's a sketch in the attachment.  Thanks for the help in advance!

curtains will only do a 10%-15% noise reduction at best...not sure how your going to achieve a decent noise reduction without having a solid partition with mass and lots of it...and in a airtight installation..

Having a 2% leak in any system could cost you up to 60% loss of your potential reduction..
Like driving down the freeway with your windows closed, you have a value of control and then simply crack the window half a centimeter and watch what happens...
