Starting to look into soundproofing my bedroom windows. House is near a highway, and the most annoying of the noises are accelerating trucks and motorcycles on the low end of the frequency spectrum.
Will 2" window plugs provide better low frequency attenuation that 1/4" or 3/8" acrylic interior windows? It seems like the extra mass of the plugs might help for the low end, but I haven't found anything that verifies this suspicion. Air space between the existing windows and the plug or interior windows will be 2-3" in either application.
Also, is there any reason the magnetseal system couldn't be installed on the exterior of the house, similar to a storm window?
Thanks in advance for any replies!
