Title: Road noise all due to windows?
Post by: kristin31 on March 06, 2015, 06:01:16 PM
Hi.  We are finishing up a new home build and the road noise (rural highway) is so bad.  Double-pane windows, but you hear it almost in every room (interior windowless bathroom)  Is it still possible the noise is all coming from the windows versus a drywall issue?  (Need to replace some doors with solid core, door sweeps are not yet installed)

Our bedroom has 3 60x30 windows.  Not sure what option is best for keeping costs down and not losing the whole look of the room, but I'm not sleeping right now with all the noise.   It's terrible.  Would the quietline windows provide a high enough STC?  I've read up that the truck noise frequency can be an issue.

TIA.

You should do some research and find out if your current windows have any STC ratings for them just be sure your not replacing windows with a similar rated window.

Traffic noise is an issue and depending on what you have today the solution might be something like our magnaseal system or have double windows installed back to back in the same window box.
