Title: soundproof interior opening
Post by: shawn02139 on January 25, 2016, 04:19:49 PM
We bought a house last year which has an office/loft above the central hallway. There is a big, triangular-shaped opening maybe 10 feet wide and 0 feet high at one and, 6 feet high at the other.

The opening lets light into both the main house and the loft, so we definitely don't want to seal it closed, but it also lets sound through. I'm not sure we want to simply do a custom-cut plexiglass piece, because it might change the air flow / heating of the house as well. Is there a way to get a custom-cut triangular piece of plexiglass, which itself has a window/possibility for opening up some of the space when sound dampening isn't a concern?

I thought about the magnetic window attachment system, but our kids play up there and the panels would probably be pretty heavy, plus where to store them when you take them down?

Would love to hear ideas, etc.

This sounds like a pretty custom project..

It would be best to call me direct so you and I can go over principles and reduction expectations based on applied systems..

I think it can be done, not sure about cost.

I look forward to hearing from you..I like a good challenge !!!
