Title: Making my son's room as quiet as possible
Post by: BombSquad91 on September 03, 2016, 03:15:44 PM
I'm going to be building a room for my son. I'm framing it out in an existing larger room. I'd like to make it quiet as possible so I will be using soundproof drywall. Which do you recommend? Quietrock or Soundbreak XP? Thanks in advance.

It is all about mass, the heavier the better...We always recommend good ole 1/2" hardie backer cement board at 3lbs sqft / Green Glue / 5/8" type X drywall at 2.3 lbs sqft = 5.3 lbs sqft...
do a weight and cost comparison.  I think quiet rock 545 comes in at 6.5 lbs sqft so you could add another layer of drywall to match that weight and end up cheaper.
