Title: Hot tub
Post by: Audrey G. on February 01, 2002, 06:10:40 PM
My neighbor has an outdoor hot tub that is across from our bedroom window.  The motor makes a humming noise(louder than 50dB) that is a noise nuisance not just in our yard but in our house(mostly in our room).  We have talked to our neighbor about replacing the motor with a quieter one, but he won't consider that option.  So, is there some affordable noise barrier that we could put in our yard?

You could help your neighbor out while helping yourself, if you could soundproof the hot tub motor. A wooden or homosode enclosure around the pump motor using soundproofing foam would dramatically reduce the sound, and solve a problem for both you and your neighhbor, these days it pays to work with your neighbor on these project, and it that way your problems do get solved in the process.
