Title: elevator thumps
Post by: Ruth on June 15, 2002, 09:28:20 PM
Hi - I'm a renter, so I'm looking for a not-too-expensive solution to a sound problem.  There's an elevator shaft on the other side of one of my walls.  Quite a bit of bumping and crashing.  I'd like to reduce the noise and vibration, but don't have many inches to spare (to build out from the wall), as my bed just fits in the room.  Would it help at all to use just the soundproofing mat, without building an "air space"?  if so, what thickness would you suggest?  I imagine that a floor mat would help reduce the vibrations, too?
