I doing some house renovation and will be adding a 2nd floor veranda that will have a hot tub on it. The contractor plans to put a rubber membrane down and then add a deck over it (tied to surrounding beams, not sitting on the membrane), and the tub will sit on the deck.
We can put the tub on a rubber mat, which will help with sound and vibration, but has anyone heard of putting rubber between wood beam connections to reduce vibration? The contractor is worried that the rubber won't hold up over time and compromise the stability of the deck.
Is there another way to reduce vibration being transmitted from the deck to the house? Any ideas/suggestions much appreciated!
