Neighbors AC Exhaust Air Vent is REALLY loud
« on: August 22, 2006, 05:09:47 PM »
My neighbor (who I do like) installed a new "high efficiency" furnace/AC in his garage. He routed the "exhaust fan" through some larger diameter PVC pipes to the outside. Problem is that the vent pipe exits on the side near our backyard. The noise severely limits our enjoyment of our own backyard. I feel more like I'm sitting next to a jet runway. Any suggestions (other than re-routing the pipe) to reduce the noise?

I'm guessing that the pipe is probably 4" or so in diameter.

Thanks!

Redirecting the route of the exhaust pipe is a GOOD idea. Every time the pipe makes a 90 degree turn some of the sound is reduced. Sound does not like to make 90 degree turns.
