Had enough. I'm moving out and putting the house up for sale.
« on: February 24, 2007, 07:28:04 PM »
I haven't told my wife yet but i'm moving out of the house because of how noisy it is around here.  We've discussed it before about how I can't stand living here anymore but she always chalks it off as me complaining again and that if we move it'll just be something else.  She just had to have a house and of course just had to have this house with a main street where hundreds of car go by every hour.  It's one of the main routes to a walmart and sheets gas station so of course every redneck in town drives by here.  All I hear is mufflers day and night.  So, that's it, i'm done.  Hopefully this wont end in divorce and I don't want it to but I need my home to be relaxing, not a source of stress.  :(

Have you tried to do any soundproofing at all?  You don't really need to do the entire house, you know.  One 'refuge room' you can get away to is enough.

wav3form, I feel your pain!

I am in the same boat. My house was in a somewhat busy street. Over the past 6 years the traffic double it at least. Now, I am feeling very sad because I might sell it and move to a quiet street,
I am willing to take a shot in soundproffing my windows and doors. I just don't know if they will be effective and justify staying here.
we'll see.
I read this forum just to make my mind. I was very excite at first about soundproofwindows.com ,then few people here said they are garbage. I had a sound control specialist coming here and I am still not convince that anything I might do here will stop the noise considerably.
It's a tough call.

Good luck to you!

That's how it is here.  Road wasn't ever this bad until they built all these stupid stores and walmart and other garbage.  Shame because I like the house but enough is enough.  I'd have to spend thousands to get this place sound proof.  At this point, any car noise I hear irritates me to no end.  I'm putting it up for sale in the spring and I don't care if I lose money selling this place.

Are your windows single pane and/or been a long time since they've been caulked???  We replaced our single-pane ancient windows with a good brand gas-filled double pane with composite sills/mouldings and it was so quiet we could not hear a thing outside (thought the hundreds of birds had migrated)!!!

Sorry about your noise problem. Have you checked into Magnetite? It is an outstanding product. I had noise problems (dogs barking and loud neighbors) but since I installed the Magnetite panels, my family sleeps so much better. They can be reached @ 800-624-8483.

It would be nice that some companies salespeople stop posting here.  >:(
Instead to get a true feedback, we get a bias one.

Plus is very appreciate if they do not send emails trying to sell their products to folks from this forum. >:( >:( >:(

If the moderators were't experts to advise, how would people get answers- from others looking for answers?  Or wrong info?  There are experts who log on here who take the time to give input - they deserve to be able to advertise they are in the business.

What's wrong with bias?  You are biased when you choose Wheaties for breakfast rather than Cherrios.  Experts are biased here when they advise, (using their experience) certain techniques and products the know have worked before.

I don't think anyone would advise something to just sell it, knowing it's not suitable for the job- that's certain death to a business and can get you into serious trouble with reputation, etc.

Ther are those, (like you) that question anyones motive that has a commercial interest.  But doesn't everyone have a commercial interest?  You work hard at your job, life, social interests- something wrong with that?

Such a small minded mentality may make one feel secure by not opening ones horizons to other thinking, techniques, etc, But is guaranteed to lock one into a frame of mind that is small.  I've found in life that the ones who are the most afraid of being screwed are thos either doing it, or consider and are capable of doing it.

Posting your complaint in numeous places in the Forum demonstrates this and complaining about sending emails to members of the Forum illustrates more of your ignorance.  (I have deleted them all except this one).

1). We don't do that.
2). No -one else can do that as emails are private here (unless someone posts it on purpose).
3). We have no reason to do that as people who still need help will call us if they want it.

This Board has been put up at the expense, time and effort of the Super Soundproofing Co and YES, we do expect to get business from it.  Since you have a problem with it, why not just go find a board more to your liking, instead of whining about it?

I think gugy was referring to the post by Rachel, one of several.  It sounded like an ad to me too...

Man you are too mad. chill out! :o

I am not complaining about you or your company. I think Supersoundproofing is great and I believe this forum is a great tool. I appreciate your feedback to many of my questions. I am more than willing to stop at your company or to order products at your website.

I received 3 or 4 emails from Magnetite trying to sell me stuff after I posted here.  I think that's not cool. I don't care for junk email. I rather take my time and decide my purchase options without being harassed by their sales people. THAT'S WHAT I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT!

The reason I posted my complaint here is in hope Magnetite will stop sending me emails and let you (bjnash) as the moderator be aware of this practice.
Cheers.

Thanks johnbergstromslc, you understood what I was talking about.

Wow it's been a while since I posted this thread.  Finally I am moving out and should be in my new place by Labor day.  It'll actually be my mom's townhouse that she's turning the mortgage over to my wife and I.  Quiet/private area.  Can't wait.

Wow!  Traffic noise is really aggravating.  So many "suggestions" and so many opinions.  The most "dramatic" results for the least cost and hassle are achieved with the simple MagnetSeal system shown on this web site at   http://soundproofing.org/sales/magnetseal_windows.htm
I hope I'm not offending anyone by posting this link - Super Soundproofing makes almost nothing on this solution as you obtain the 1/4" or 3/8" thick acrylic from your local plastics retailer.  This is another example of our willingness to help people solve their soundproofing problems - no matter what or where they buy.
