I need to construct a large outdoor sound-damping enclosure. What would be the most suitable material to use. Is Perspex a good option.

You may want to get a copy of the EPA reprint:  "Quieting: A practical Guide to Noise Control", we've reprinted it as a public service and it's available for just postage and the photo copying costs - $15 PP ($9 more foreign). You can order from the web site with your credit card! http://www.soundproofing.org/infopages/EPAmanual.htm
We also have an addendum about "Double Drywall" using resilient channels we put with it.
You may want to get the book and a "Sample Kit" of our products to see if you can match them locally. It's an additional $10, but you get a refund coupon. Go to: http://www.soundproofing.org/sales/samplekit.htm
